1. What this site is
githero.dev is a personal blog by @mewset, and the home of Githam City, a pixel-art city whose hero carries sponsors' logos. Visitors have no accounts and there are no comments, so the only data collected is anonymous usage data from reading and watching the site. The only sign-in is a private admin page that only the site owner can use; it sets a session cookie for that purpose and nothing else.
2. Analytics
The blog uses two analytics tools:
- Vercel Web Analytics: page views, referrer, country and device type. It does not use cookies.
- PostHog (EU cloud): page views, how far you read a post, clicks on outbound links, and JavaScript errors. PostHog stores an anonymous identifier in your browser so repeat visits can be counted.
Neither tool is used for advertising, and the data is not sold or shared with anyone else.
3. Buying a sponsorship
Cape sponsorships are paid through Stripe, which handles the card details; this site never sees them. For a booking I keep what you entered (sponsor name, link, X handle, logo), the dates, the amount and the email address Stripe reports for the payment, so I can review the booking, refund it and answer questions about it.
4. External links
Links to X, GitHub, Ko-fi, PayPal, sponsors and other sites take you to services with their own privacy policies. Some outbound links carry UTM parameters so I, and for sponsor links the sponsor, can see which links get clicked. They identify the link, never you.
5. The retired Githero service
githero.dev used to host Githero, a service that turned GitHub activity into XP, levels and leaderboards. It was retired in September 2026. Its live database and its GitHub OAuth app have been deleted, which also invalidated every access token it held. A private archival copy of the database, without access tokens, is kept offline by the site owner.
If you had a Githero account and want your data removed from that copy, contact me and I will delete it.
